7 Adorable Heart-Shaped Foods for Valentine’s Day!
1. Heart-Shaped Fried Eggs
Eggs are a easy way to put some heart in your breakfast. Breakfast in bed has never been so romantic! Even easier when you use a 3.5 inch Silicone Heart Ring! If you like your eggs over easy, just slip the ring off prior to flipping your egg. Anything bigger than 3.5 inches will be too big for an egg, and you could get a gap or a thin spot in the white.
For an extra heart for your sweetheart, cut your toast into a heart with a cookie cutter prior to putting the egg on top.
2. Heart Cake
How about a heart shaped cake? This is one of the best heart-shaped foods you can make for your sweetie on Valentine’s Day. I have a ten inch heart-shaped silicone cake pan, which I love, and makes this so easy.
But you don’t have to buy anything – you can actually make this with one round and one square cake pan. The process is to cut the cooled round cake in half and fit it together with two sides of the cooled square cake. Use your favorite red velvet recipe, or you can use food dye with a white cake.
You could also use heart shaped cupcake pans, too!
3. Heart-Shaped Pancakes
Pancakes are probably one of the most fun things to make into a heart shape. If you have a steady hand, you can just free-hand it. You can also use a squeeze bottle as you can see I did below. Condiment bottles work, as do bike water bottles.
Otherwise, get a pancake mold. Cookie cutters and egg molds will likely leak because they don’t have as good of a seal to the pan. Try to use one which is about 4.5 inches across, and has an open top. Try this non-stick version.
4. Egg in a Heart
This is a variation on the fried egg heart above. If you haven’t heard of egg in a hole, basically you cut the hole from the center of your toast and fry the egg in that hole.
Use a 3 inch heart shaped cookie cutter to cut the center into a heart instead! Genius! And super cute, too.
5. Heart-Shaped Cookie Pops
One of my favorite heart-shaped foods! Use a 3 inch cookie cutter on thinly rolled cookie dough. Put a skewer or a popsicle stick in the end of each cookie prior to baking. Allow the cookie to completely cool prior to lifting or decorating.
6. Heart Waffles
Oh my gosh, so cute, and different!! Your valentine will be wowed. Use this non-stick waffle maker.
7. Finger Sandwiches
How about heart shaped finger sandwiches? I wanted to include some heart-shaped foods for kiddos which would be a fun snack for the middle of the day :).
Use soft white bread and fill with cucumbers and cream cheese, cheese and lunch meat, or a nice artichoke or spinach spread. You can even do this with a PB&J! Use a regular cookie cutter like this one to carefully press and cut the sandwiches into hearts.
