Description
Also known as the Torch Lily, This version of the Red Hot Poker is the tallest. Growing to 5 feet tall or more, the flowers change color as they mature, going from deep red to yellow, giving the flower spike a bi-color appearance.
Drought tolerant, heat tolerant, frost tolerant, as well as resistant to deer, rabbits and underground borrowers. Easily naturalizes in a California garden despite lack of summertime water. Plant at the back of the border or where irrigation is unavailable. Much more tolerant of clay soil than its hybrid cousins.
